In this project, I designed a global banking solution aimed at young companies seeking a modern, user-friendly interface that made digital banking straightforward while offering a comprehensive set of tools to manage their financial needs.
A Ground-up Digital Banking Solution

QUICK SUMMARY
BACKGROUND
As digital banking grew worldwide, Sri Lankan banks jumped on board the app trend. Some of these apps offered genuine ease in banking, while others were just resized versions of already troublesome web platforms. Many faced criticism for having clunky interfaces that confused users.

BUILDING FROM THE GROUND UP
During this time we were proposed with the idea to start working on an entirely new solution for this problem—one that was made from the ground up and with the end user in mind. A modern, user-friendly interface that offered all the robust features a growing business would need.
RESEARCH
The next step was market research: analyzing user habits, pain points, and successful products like Wise, Mercury and many others. After a stream of discussions with the design team, and input from developers and potential users we discovered a handful of key areas to focus on.

PLANNING & ITERATION
We spent about a month brainstorming, sketching user journeys, and refining the design through many iterations. This iterative process laid the foundation on which the final product was built.

IDEA TO DESIGN
This example shows the Card Preview section. When a user selects a card from the list, more details pop up in a preview. Above you can see the early versions compared to how the final design below.

A FRESH DESIGN SYSTEM
Unlike my past work on internal systems for trained employees, this project needed a public-facing design—something modern, simple, and enjoyable. So, I created a new design system that was both accessible and visually engaging.

REFLECTION
This was one of the most challenging projects I've taken on, as it required deep dives into a new domain of Fintech. But thanks to the collective efforts of the design team, we were able to create a high-fidelity prototype that we could proudly hand off to the dev team to bring to life.
